Each year, the All-City Band Society has several fundraising events. These include such things as Purdy's Chocolates, Dessert and Dance and Grocery Bagging. Dates for these events will be on our Calendar

Types of Fundraising

General Fundraiser means that members contribute work or goods but the profits go into the general All-City Band Society fund not into individuals’ fundraising balances. Instead, the profits go towards scholarships, awards, lessons, instrument purchase, etc. as well as being used to subsidize travel, e.g., for band trips.

Some examples are Dessert & Dance, Bakesales, etc.

Dessert & Dance - a fundraiser that combines snacking on home-made desserts and dancing to big band jazz, with performances by the All-City Jazz Band and special guests, The BIG Band. Included are dance lessons put on by local dance instructors. This event is open to the public and gives our Jazz band a chance to perform in a different venue. Members not performing are involved with serving desserts, set-up for the event, baking desserts, decorating, silent auction, clean-up, etc. This event is run by Junior and Senior members only as profits from this event have traditionally been used to subsidize trip costs.

Individual Fundraiser means that the more you sell or work, the more profit you earn towards your own individual fundraising balance. Members can choose to participate in Individual fundraisers. Please see All-City Band Society's Fundraising Policy for more details.

Examples are: Purdy’s Chocolates, Grocery Bagging, etc.

Purdy’s Chocolate fundraiser – this fundraiser runs twice a year, for Christmas and Easter distribution. Purdy’s Chocolate is popular in Whitehorse so members have the opportunity to make lots of money. Profits to individuals are usually 18% of sales. For the 2018/19 year, the All-City Band Society saw sales over $40,000.

Grocery Bagging – this fundraiser runs every month during the school year. Members sign-up for shifts and the overall profits are divided by members working and the total time that they worked.
